Santa

Will you encourage your children to believe in Santa? I put a poll on the right - I'm interested in what the results will be.
I love the magical aspect of Santa and the story surrounding him. I believed in Santa, though I don't remember when I stopped. I also loved when my youngest brother, John, was still small and believed in Santa - my other brother, Andrew and I had fun watching him get excited about it.
There are other perspectives, like teaching children that Christmas is only about Jesus and his birth, or that teaching your children that Santa is real is the same thing as lying to them. I'm a little torn - but I think we will probably encourage Santa, if only for a little while. I think it's possible to have a Christmas where you understand the real meaning of Jesus' birth and celebrate that while still enjoying the mythical part too. I was raised that way and I don't think I'm scarred from it. :) I guess we still have time to decide, since Sophia doesn't know what's goign on yet.
Whatever we decide, Monday night, we took her to the mall to meet Santa for the first time!
