Cure for Cabin Fever

Saturday, December 18, 2010

We were hit with 20 inches of snow last Saturday, and by Monday the roads in Minneapolis and St. Paul were still so blocked that school was canceled.  Same thing happened on Tuesday – the school officials were concerned about low temps and that with the buses taking longer to get to each stop, the kids may be out in the cold too long.

So, what do you do with kids who are then stuck in the house for four consecutive days (counting the weekend)?   Lots and lots of activities!

They got movies for quiet time both days, which is a big treat since I reserve TV time for their parents to give to them.  It was actually a lot of fun, since I don’t see the big kids as often as I used to.  They also got to have some good treats.  Monday was hot cocoa and gingerbread cookies during quiet time.  Tuesday was Pizza Luce delivery for lunch and milkshakes for snack.  It went SO well that at one point all four were coloring peacefully together for 15 minutes straight!

It could have been a rough couple of days, but it ended up being so fun and I’m now looking forward to Christmas break much more than I expected to!
